My last experience with National was not my best. Normally I receive excellent service from National. When I arrived at the booth in the garage at the BR airport, the lady in the booth was very nice an offered me a selection of vehicles. I chose the Chevy Traverse. When I got in the vehicle, it wasn't full of gas. Lacking almost an eighth of a tank of fuel. When I returned the vehicle three days later, I mentioned this to the lady checking the vehicle back in. She said "sorry about that" and that was all. Then she handed me my receipt and said the amount, which was really high and when I asked her she said yes, $85/day times three days. I stopped her and said that we have a corporate rate that is about $30/day. She then had me follow her to the booth and another associate checked on the computer. He verified that indeed we had the corporate rate and adjusted the bill. No one mentioned the fact that the vehicle was not full when picked up nor offered any compensation in return. Not my best experience with National which normally is very good.

I've been renting with National for over 20 years. They always upgrade my car when possible and are always friendly and courteous. During this trip to Baton Rouge I was dropping off at the airport and the National Reps were busy in the booth when Daniel from the Enterprise counter saw that I had pulled up and no one had come to check me in yet. He took care of everything with a smile and friendly conversation. I appreciate not having to wait and his friendly professional attitude. Thank You National (and sister company Enterprise.)

I recently rented a car from your Baton Rouge location. After I arrived at my destination, which was ~60 miles away, I found that I could not open the rear hatch on the Ford Edge I was given. I tried to use the automatic control on the key fob and it did not work. The door would try to open, but would stop then retract itself. I tried to open in manually and it did the same thing. I noticed on the dash board that the vehicle thought the rear hatch was ajar, but it was actually closed. I had to take the luggage out of the side doors. The next morning I tried to start the vehicle and found that the battery was dead. I called the emergency road side hot line and informed the your representative of the issue and she stated that she was going to send AAA to jump me off and that once this was done I was to take the car to a local National location. I told the person that I did not trust the vehicle, but she said this would be the fastest solution. She then told me that I was going to be charged $55.00 for the jump start and I stated that this was unacceptable. She then started calling around to the local offices and left me on hold for over 45 minutes. She then she transferred me to the New Orleans location then hung up. The person at this location told me that she had no cars and could not help me. She asked to talk to the representative, but she had hung up on me. The representative told me I would have to call the line back and start over. I called the line again and talked to a different representative and she told me that the AAA driver was given the wrong contact number and that he was trying to get in touch with me. I went through my issue with her again and she told me that once I got the car started I should take it to the Lafayette airport location. She told me that she sent a message to them and that they should have a similar car waiting for me. I asked if it would be possible for someone to bring me a new vehicle and take this one away and she told me it could take up to 5 hours for this to happen and that it would be faster for me to take it to Lafayette. About 45 minutes later the AAA person showed up and jumped me off. I then took the car to Lafayette and when I got there I waited in line for about 30 minutes only to find out that they had no reservation for me and that the only vehicle they had was a compact car and that I would have to wait until it was cleaned. The whole experience took over 5 hours and was extremely frustrating. When I got to Baton Rouge at the end of my trip I noticed that I was charged $55.00 dollars for the jump start. After talking to the manager he was willing to give me a $100.00 credit. While his actions were appreciated it did take additional time to get this transaction completed. I believe National needs to take actions to improve their processes in this area. There is no reason why someone would have to go through what I went through when the vehicle they have rented breaks down.

The staff are always so kind and helpful. My only feedback is that the cars always smell horrible. I don't know if people are smoking a pack of cigarettes in them or what but it's gross. I wish vehicles could be designated non-smoking just like hotel rooms.

Upon arrival, the National Car Rental Staff was poorly organized. A line of 20 customers was greeted with extremely slow service. Waited for over 30 min for check in.
