My family can't believe that this is the best Baton Rouge has to offer. This is a terrible hotel. The rooms are small and terribly expensive. Totally not worth it. My family thinks we should meet up in Texas instead given the horrible quality of this hotel.
I was sitting at the desk in my hotel room working on my laptop and a large cockroach can crawling down the wall. I jumped up on surprised and stomped my toe on the desk. I can't believe I have seen a large roach in a hotel room. Also worth mentioning is the cleanliness of the room, or lack there of, there were stains on the wall and a stinky mold smell that was just horrible. Never stay at the Belle of Baton Rouge, they are in need of much renovation.
We stayed July 4, 2009. When we checked in and went to our room, there was a piece of cracker on the floor by the bed. When I bent down to pick it up and throw it away, I found a soda can, numerous snack wrappers under the bed and a nasty t-shirt that was wrapped up in the bed-skirt. We called house-keeping and they came to "re-clean" the room, which only consisted of vacuuming. The place was over-run with "thugs". We had to wait in a line of mass confusion for elevators all day. After the fireworks display on the river, which was great, we went back to our room, took showers and got ready for bed. The hallway was noisy with inconsiderate people, but we assumed things would settle down shortly. We ended up calling security at least 3 times to try to get people to quit slamming doors and yelling in the halls, but it never ended. My husband even politely asked a group of "thugs" (with their pants pulled down under their butts and underware showing) to PLEASE keep it down because people were trying to sleep and they just popped off with some smart-a** comment and kept being obnoxious. The room across the hall from us must have had at least 15 people staying in it. When the noise was extremely loud one time, I looked out of the peep hole and saw a room full of people, adults and kids, carrying on. A few minutes later, 4 adults left the room...I assume to go to the casino, presumably leaving the children alone. This was around 1am. We finally could not take it anymore and left the Hotel at 1:30 am to go home. What was supposed to be a fun experience for my family, including my 2 kids, ended up being a nightmare! I will NEVER stay here again! My mother-in-law had the same experience with noise on Father s Day weekend. Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. Security is a joke, cleanliness is horrible, and no managers in sight. Do not waste your money. I would have given it NO stars for a rating, but it would not allow me to post.
The hotel staff are not helpful at all. I was waiting for 30 minutes for my room service and still have nothing come to my room. I called them and they said they never receive my order. FINE, I negotiate to get a credit for my breakfast at the buffet. They still charge to my room and bill me!!! I called back to complain about this and they said they need to investigate~ wow...it took them 2 days and still fail to response!!!!! What a mess! never ever will stay there AGAIN!
