One star for this ever happened, one star for the apartment was okay.
Rented an 1BR from Darryl Gissel, the apartment is pretty good, central location, full amenities. Negative is some parts are dated.
He appears to be a respectable person, but was "quiet" when you're talking to him, to say the least, therefore uncomfortable to be with, but quite assertive when making demands. He asked to be thought of as the best broker (???). The utilities were once cut off at the wrong time. Agent has come into the apartment without prior notice. The communication in my leasing experience is poor. Also the business only has two people, which can be a problem when there's a dispute.
Was going to give three stars, but as I was writing, the owner called in to insult me, thus one less.
My experience can be individual case. But after agreement with the owner to postpone the rents for two of the months I was staying, he still deducted $100 late fees from deposit. And seemed to be pretty upset last-minute with my early move-out, when I have clearly gave him heads-up, face-to-face. It felt like different person I talked to. When I requested the late fees to be returned, he cited irrelevant reasons that his bookkeeper has to help me with transferring utilities account, and made up story that I delayed the new tenant's move-in (I moved out before his proposed date). After this, he cut off communication. When I went to his office, he walked off when he saw me, shut me outside his door, sit just by the windows while I waited on the porch, scurried away in his car from the back door, was spotted to circle around when I was leaving the area, and threatened to call the police in the last call. I haven't seen a baser way a business-owner treat their clients who have questions about their bills.
