Despite what I've read in the reviews I've successfully leased a property and have not had any negative feedback regarding this service. Any issue I've reported has taken less than a day to resolve - or I've been given a notice on its tentative completion - and I have not encountered an issue with the service (general, maintenance, etc).
We have been with Tom Mackey for about a year and a half. We were hesitant at first after reading some of the reviews online, but honestly they have been AWESOME. They have always been very prompt with any repairs that we needed. Always polite and very eager to help. Would use them again anytime!
Such a disappointing and frustrating experience. 2 stars for always being professional in communications, but they are not prompt returning phone calls or setting expectations. I lost out on a perfect home for my family simply because they did not tell me the security deposit had to be paid to seal the deal. After viewing the home I asked what I needed to do to get started on lease paperwork, agent just said to call the office to fill out lease paperwork. Nobody ever said I could lose out on the property if I didn't pay a security deposit OR that I was racing with other approved applicants. I called and left them a message and nobody called me back. So I try calling again the next morning and she said I have to pay a security deposit before any of the other approved applicants. No way to pay one online, so I overnight mail it since I am out of state and call her back letting her know I emailed photos proving when I sent it. "Oh sorry someone just came and dropped off a security deposit so the home is no longer available". So now I have a hit on my credit score for them to approve my application and have to try again somewhere else. Subpar communication and very poor business practices!
Also, the leasing process was very enjoyable compared to other services throughout BR as it is completely online, including rent payments and maintenance requests.
These are the most unethical people you will ever work with. They will state verbally that after one year you will have the option to go on a month-to-month lease, but after the one year lease ends, they will force you to sign another yearly lease. Watch out, ask them to write down everything before dealing with them..
The negative reviews are 100% deserved. They simply don't care about their renters the properties or really anything. You're lucky if you get a call back ever much less promptly. I have to physically go to the office so they can't ignore me as easily. Which I will be doing tomorrow because I've been waiting 3 weeks for them to fix my flooded closet.
